This is going to be a hodge-podge post that includes some fun summer pics along with an update on the progression of Baby #2!
Drew, as everyone knows already has a love for baseball just like daddy. This summer, Ronnie coached a 13-14yr old travel ball baseball team. Drew attended a couple of the games and thought it was so cool to see "daddy coachin'"!
He has now expanded his baseball vocabulary to include words like "shin gaurds" "short stop", "catcher's mask", "outfield", and "dug out."
On June 27th, Raquel threw us a super fun couples baby shower! I was apposed to doing anything big because it is our second child... but she insisted we have a get together and it was JUST PERFECT. About 5 of our closest couple friends in Tampa attended and fun was had by all!
She had these fun photo booth-like signs! So cute!
A few weeks ago Drew attended his first real movie in the movie theater! We saw Disney's "Inside Out" It was so good and Drew sat there the entire time -- many thanks to a great tip from Aunt Wendy to arrive 15 min. after the official start time so you don't waste all the popcorn during the previews :-)
I didn't get any good pics inside the theater, but we sat with our neighborhood girlfriend Mia and snagged a quick pic after. They are good buddies and she is so sweet to him!
Drew has been quite the mischievous little tike this summer. For about the past year he has been into the Curios George books/DVDs and I think they are starting to set in to his personality. I have to laugh because in all the Curious George books he does something to get himself into trouble, but in the end comes out looking like the hero. Drew has made several attempts at this same strategy. I just can't get mad sometimes because he is too cute!
One morning, Drew decided it would be fun to hide under the sink and eat daddy's deodorant...
And here is a bump pic! 38 weeks!
Since it's been quite awhile since I've posted, I should also mention that at 34 1/2 weeks I had some really strong contractions and lost my mucus plug. After feeling some lower back pain, we went into the doctor to see what was going on. I was dilated to a 2 and they ended up checking me in to the hospital to try to slow the contractions down, they were coming every 3-4 minutes. I was given an IV and received a shot of turbutaline -- it seemed to kick them and now I'm writing this post at 39 weeks and 2 days :-)
It was quite the scare, though. At 34 weeks the baby is still considered premature. I was put on doctors orders to "take it easy".. so no more working out, lifting stuff around the house and doing nesting projects.
Afternoon snack with daddy. Pretty sure sports center was on. Which by the way - Drew requests to watch in the morning while eating his breakfast.
Drew has become quite the helper outside. He likes to do everything daddy does... he wants to mow the yard, pressure wash the driveway and water the lawn with his "pose." (hose).
Last Friday, July 17th was my last official day working at the office. I have some really awesome employees and they all went in on this gift and surprised me with it when I got to work on Friday... it was a bunch of great baby "staples" items that will come in super handy! Some major LOOT!
Where did my Drew go??????? Daddy took him to get a haircut and they decided to go REAL big boy! It's the cutest things ever... but he look at least 2 years older now. Is it possible for a haircut to add inches to their legs too??
I also want to make sure and mention how Drew has been talking about "new baby." I know he doesn't understand exactly what is about to happen, but just watching him listen, feeling him touch my belly to see if the baby is moving and hearing him say sweet things like "gonna kiss the baby" , just melts my heart. He is going to be such a caring and loving brother and we are so proud of him.
It's required to wear 3-D glasses when constructing bookcases, right???

39 weeks!

Since I am considered "AMA" (advanced maternal age - over 35), they don't let you go past your due date and will schedule an induction. Mine is scheduled for Thursday 7/23 - AAHH!!!!
I really want to go into labor on my own, so I've been doing lots of walks, going up and down the stairs, eating spicy foods and tonight I even did some acupuncture techniques with pressure points on my legs to get this baby going!
I'm dilated 4cm (as of today, 7/21) so we are sooo close! I've got about 30 hours to go!
We are so anxious to meet this special little person and so thankful that God has watched over us during the last night months to get us this far.
I can't wait to fall in love again less than 2 days!
Baby Merrill, we can't wait to meet you (and find out if Drew will have a brother or a sister)!
