On Sunday February 9th, we celebrated Drew's 11 month birthday and two very special ceremonies.
A little over 2 years ago Ronnie and I got married on the beach by wonderful Methodist pastor. It was the most beautiful day of my life and I will never forget it as long as I live. However, we knew that for us to raise a family, attend church together and teach our children about Christ - we would need to make some decisions in the years to come...
I was raised Lutheran and very proud of my upbringing in that church and the absolutely wonderful people that are part of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein, IA. Salt of the earth people. The best you will ever meet. So my decision to get confirmed in the Catholic Church was not because I was unhappy as a Lutheran and looking for a new found sense of belonging. This decision was for Ronnie and I, and ultimately to unite together so we could raise our children in a single church.
I started taking the RCIA classes in August 2012, while pregnant with Drew. Now - a year and half later I was confirmed and in the same ceremony our marriage was convalidated. So I guess you could say that we have all of the Catholic check boxes checked at this point :-)

After mass we enjoyed a great brunch with Grandma and Grandpa Merrill at the club at Hunters Green. It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day!

Following brunch we went outside to get some pictures....we realized Drew had never felt the grass so we put him down. HILARIOUS. You would have though the grass was 400 degrees when he touched it...the texture really threw him off. I haven't seen him sit in one place for that long since before he could crawl!

| Check out his hands -- he wouldn't even touch it! "Posing for this picture only because I am scared of the grass...." |

Drew, Sammy (not pictured) and mommy enjoyed a picnic together on the grass while daddy did some yard work! This blanket was like Drew's little island. He was scared to get off it and have to touch the grass.
Next Sunday stop - the park! We were outside all afternoon - it was awesome! Drew loves swinging -- and he is sitting backward in the swing because it faces the tennis court if he goes that way. He loves watching the tennis players and the sound of the balls bouncing around.
Love this smile so much!

Can't believe his 1 yr. birthday is less than 30 days away. Seems like just yesterday that I was waddling around the neighborhood about to pop!
