Jacksonville Road Trip!

Last weekend little Max (to clarify -- this is Keri and Lyndon's little guy, not Liz and Nick's... there are multiple second cousin Max's in the family :-) was turning 2!

What's a second cousin to do???  Go to the party - DUH!  So Aunt Stephie and I made plans to drive up Saturday morning and were going to come back on Sunday.  Well...Pork Chop had other plans!  His was getting his top two teeth in and didn't let mommy sleep much that week.  So we made the executive decision to drive up and back in one day (it's a 3 hour drive from our house to Jax).   I figured if we were going to have another rough night with the teeth it would be better to do it at home then spend the night and keep everyone else up!

Brave to do 6 hours in the car with a teething 6 mo. old, right?  Well - Aunt Stephie saved the day! She kept him entertained when he started to fuss and before we knew it we were there!  We ended up taking some back road route so it was a pretty interesting drive, going through lots of small towns and checking out rural Florida :-)  We tried to keep the car moving... rolling up carefully to stop lights.  I don't know how babies do it - but it NEVER fails that as soon as the car stops they wake up!

We got there just a little before 2pm...was great to see everyone and lots of hugs and kisses were given to Drew-bug!

I. love. my. balloon.  Don't even think about taking it away from me.

Steph, Drew and Toni - surrounded by TOYS!
Max's party had a cute pirate theme and a big blow up water slide.  Drew was a little small for this big boat - but maybe next time :-)

"Hey Max - I heard there were cupcakes here...you know where they're at??"

"OK, over there on that table? You want chocolate? I'll get one for you too!"

Sitting is SOOOO easy now!

CHEESE!  Keri, Aubry and Drew posing for a pic :-)

Aunt Stephie, Drew and I piled back in the car about 6:30.  Fingers were crossed that Drew was going to make the 3 hour return ride back without screaming.  We made it about an hour and half and then the fun began...

We ended up stopping in Orlando for a break and to let little man out of his monkey seat in the back.  He was a happy camper at the pizza place.  Reading books, eating cereal and sitting in his big boy high chair.
We got home about 10:30 but since he slept most of the drive home, this is the mood he was in when I went to put his jammies on him....

Rise and shine mom!  Time for more books!

Sunday morning we made a quick run to the grocery store to get things ready for the week... wwwweeeeeee!  First time sitting up in the cart and it was FUN!

Another great adventure weekend in the books and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!
